Last Saturday, I attended a Fashion Capsule at the School of Fashion and the Arts. The Fashion Capsule was a Fashion Photography Workshop with Philippines’ premiere fashion photographer, Raymund Isaac. I’ve decided to take this workshop because I believe that I still have lots to learn when it comes to this craft that I love and what’s better way to learn? Learn from the best, of course! ;)
FABRIC x THE PIN-UP GIRL: Cupcakes and Soda Fashion Show
A few weeks ago, I e-mailed Andie of The Pin-Up Girl Store for a collaboration for my blog. Instead, she asked me to be one of the twelve muses, along with Jeline Catacutan and Gen Fernandez, to present her latest collection at Society Lounge in Makati which happened last Friday night.
This is my second time to join a fashion show and I just have to say that it’s such an enriching experience. Aside from walking with pretty clothes, I get to gain new friends such as Jariss, Jeline, Gen and Alyssa and meet new people like Marc and Donna. I just love meeting awesome people! ❤
Last week, my friends who were taking up Multimedia Arts this semester asked me to be their model for their midterm. I dressed up as a fairy (without the wings) along Ortigas, it was such an impromptu but fun shoot. :)
Beauty & Butter is the newest and trendiest one-stop pampering destination to hit the Metropolis. Offering the ultimate in self-expression by way of beautification, services include instant gratification via foot spas, paraffin treatments, customizable nail art, instant-facials and hair removal.
Bedecked in graphics reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland meets pop art, the interiors are both posh and comforting at the same time. Boasting 92 possible nail colors, complimentary movies and funkily dressed nail and beauty technicians, Beauty & Butter is the ultimate for the young and the young at heart!
Honestly speaking, I prefer Nail Spa at Shangri-La Plaza but since I was too lazy to walk back and forth to Megamall, I’ve decided to go to Beauty & Butter. It’s my second time to visit them and I have to say that my experience yesterday was much better than my first one.
THE AMBIANCE & LOCATION Once you enter Beauty & Butter, you will be welcomed by the reception who will ask you the services you are interested in. They offer the basic nail cleaning with polish, foot spa, and facial. Compared to the other nail salons in SM Megamall, clients are pretty much well hidden from the walking crowd outside offering me some kind of privacy.
Here’s a peek of their colorful interior:
ENTERTAINMENT Instead of the usual supply of fashion magazines, they entertain clients with a movie. Shane West and Mandy Moore kept me company with A Walk to Remember. ❤
This entry is dedicated to aspiring photographers out there, including myself. But these rules are not limited to portfolios, it also applies to all websites out there.
Splash Page Don’t waste my time, just get straight to the point.
Music No matter how awesome your music is, it’s annoying for all of us.
Difficult to Navigate A photography portfolio should be easy and quick to navigate, otherwise, I’ll just leave.
Photo Size Preferred size range: 700-900 pixels
Photo Quantity Your portfolio is not a place where you can dump all of your photos. Choose at least 10-20 photos on a specific subject.
Photo Diversity Show differences in your theme or subject. Let the viewer know that you have done this thing for several times before, implying you had experience already.
Photo Organization It’s up to you on how you organize your photos, the important is that they’re organized.
All Flash, No Info If you’re using flash, have the decency to put the title/caption of your photographs.
Standard Template A little customization goes a long way, no matter how simple your theme is.
No Name, No Email If you don’t want people to contact you, don’t put your name and email on the website. But seriously, it would be better if you do (don’t use your everyday e-mail if you want to avoid spam or prank mails).
In this month of love, I’m excited to present you The Style Sweetheart, Laureen Uy, a fashion enthusiast, blogger of Break My Style and co-owner of Style Break.
Personally, I find Laureen a fashion inspiration because she made me believe that you can be in style despite the strict dress code your university has. Also, I like the fact that she’s not a shadow of her famous and stunning sister, Liz Uy, instead she’s a bright star of her own.
Sweet Patti Cakes is a creation of Jon Herrera’s gorgeous girlfriend, Patti Grandidge. I heard her cupcakes were delicious but never got a chance to taste them until yesterday. I ordered a box last week to be given out this Valentines Day/Week.
The packaging was lovely. Simple and secured, ensuring that the decoration on each cupcake won’t get destroyed.
SPC offers eight flavors but I only ordered the following: Seriously Chocolate, Vanilla Manila, Mad About Mocha and Coco Cabana. I wasn’t able to taste all because I had to share it to my friends but if you’re crazy about Nutella, I’m sure you’ll love Seriously Chocolate! :)
If you know someone who has a thing for food, you might want to consider Sweet Patti Cakes as a gift. Happy Hearts! ♥
Okay, I just have this idea of listing the people, who I think, had influenced me a lot here in Tumblr. Because Follow Tuesday isn’t enough to show off the great people here. And, yes I try to visit their blogs as soon as I log in to Tumblr.
• Happy Snappers. Those who have the eye for taking photos. People who I admire most and gives me the reason not to stop happy snapping myself. They are my demigods. My mentors.
Day 33/365 Yesterday’s original agenda was to go to Ateneo and then to Cubao X but since JP and I had to finish a client’s site, we had to postpone Cubao X. :( But it’s alright because we had fun at Ateneo.
This week, the Information Design Seniors from Ateneo had a Thesis Exhibit entitled Rotonda. I had to show up to support my former co-interns at STATUS, Lalaine and Rian. <3
Bakit May Bigota Si Kuya? Bakit Ang Tangkad Bigla Ni Ate? by Lalaine Lim. Warning: It’s a very disturbing booth, hahaha.
Lazy Spaces by Rian Bautista. Lazy Spaces is all about improving your productivity by organizing your room.
Sound Trip is a website that allows you to choose a city, pick a bar and check out the necessary details. (Not to brag but we can do this kind of site! :p)
Learn Lab is a “tool for organizing, filtering, and connecting ideas, words, topics, ideas, lectures, or anything saved in its interactive pages.” The best part? It’s available online! :D Learn Lab is one of our favorite because it’s basically everything what JP and I do: programming + design + utility.
Here are some of the freebies I got from the exhibit! Lalaine took the liberty to save me some of her stache! :3 YAY FOR MUSTACHE STICKER!!!
Thank you for the new bag! ❤
Food Photography. How would you rate my skillz it?
Collaborative Face. Lala’s calling card is so adorable.
A Glimpse of Ateneo. How I wish our campus was like this, full of greenery and fresh air.
I only took a few photos of the event because I believe that you should check the exhibit for yourself. :) The exhibit is open until Friday at the Fine Arts Exhibit Hall, Gonzaga Hall at Ateneo de Manila University.
