How To: Re-Design Your Space
Living alone made me realise how tough it is to maintain a clean, spacious and personalised room. But lucky for me, I learned a few tricks from the best (aka my mother).
In an effort to be prepared for future surprise visits -(I definitely don’t want my mom to see the mess I’ve made!) – and to make the room a little more inviting – I decided to do some re-designing. A quick look at a few of my style influencers, lead me to my latest bookmark that is LuxDeco.
Described by the Daily Telegraph as ‘the Net-a-Porter for home design’, the website is intuitive and the pieces are sophisticated. In all, I found the site section really helpful in creating the look I wanted, but also the LuxDeco magazine which can teach even the most astute home furnisher a thing or two about style.
Here are a few tips for anyone wanting to create a bedroom you’ll want to sleep in too:
Pick a Theme
Contrasting patterns and rich colours create a moody atmosphere; imported accessories and bright hues can create an exotic ambiance for your guests. Decide how you would like your guests to feel and start there, but beware of making it too masculine or too feminine – neutrality is best.
Get to Bed
You want to be able to promote a good night’s sleep, and a comfortable bed is inherently cosy. A statement headboard can be very chic and bring your theme to life. Sumptuous silk, luxury bedding, and plenty of throw pillows will make your guests feel like royalty. Provide an abundance of these items to allow for a bespoke sleeping arrangement.
Remember: it’s all in the details
Feel pampered in your own home. Leave soft cotton towels and cushy robe; a nice throw, artwork and fresh flowers keep the room from feeling impersonal.
Go Above and Beyond
Be functional but stylish! Buy products that exceeds the expectation. Like get tri-time clock or a luxurious lap tray.
There you have it, a few tips and tricks on how to make your space neat, functional and stylish. And don’t forget to check out LuxDeco Magazine for more inspiration for other home spaces.
