ALL ROADS LEAD TO CAMSUR ONCE MORE!
The CamSur Watersports Complex hosts the third staging of the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines last August 14, 2011. With over 1,100 participants, the course is composed of a 1.2 mile swim (1.9km), 56 mile bike (90km), and 13.1 mile run (21.1km).
Due to the cancellation of the Ironman 70.3 China, this event will have 30 qualifiers for the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Some of the qualifiers were Cameron Brown, Katya Meyers and Amanda Stevens.
Storm clouds enshrouded Camarines Sur and monsoon rains poured down in the duration of the race. The cool climate gave some of the participants an advantage in the race.
Pete Jacobs makes a repeat as this year’s champion for the male Ironman 70.3 Philippines with 03:51:43. Jesse Thomas and Cameron Brown were head-on-head with 04:12:30 and 04:12:54 respectively. Belinda Granger won in the women’s division with 04:26:23 while Amanda Stevens arrived two minutes later. Other female participants were Bree Wee (4:35:16) and Katya Meyers (4:39:37).
For the locals, Neil Catiil and Monica Torres triumphed once more. Arland Macasieb (04:26:31) won first place for the men’s division while Marion Kim Mangrobang lands on second place for the women’s division.
