A frequently asked question among Instagram users. Some are kind enough to answer, some don’t (lol, selfish people!). Last week, I made a rave post about VSCO Cam. This week, I’m going to share three more apps that I think is worth the download.

The apps we’re going to talk about today are the following: Whitagram, Typic and Afterglow. :)

Check out the photo above. Don’t get me wrong, some shots are pretty against black background. But most of the time? I think white is better (probably because I love that clean and minimalist look and feel).
To achieve that, I use Whitagram. It’s a free app that adds a white background on your Instagram photos, perfect for those who wants to post non-square photos. You can also edit the photos in Camera+ without leaving the app (it’ll just take you there and when you save it, you’ll come back to Whitagram).
This Skyway photo was taken a few weeks ago, when boyfriend brought me to the airport. I edited the photo using VSCO cam and Whitagram, then posted it on Instagram. In my opinion, the photo could’ve been perfect if there was a caption though.
If you like adding captions on your photos, then I recommend Phonto since it’s free and you can even use your own fonts. My only issue with the app is the ugly interface. I just can’t stand it and therefore, I don’t use this app a lot. Actually, I don’t use this app at all.
If interface is an issue, then I recommend Typic. It’s a simple app that allows you to add beautiful text over your photos. The free app includes six filters and seven great looking fonts (but you can purchase the pack of only $0.99). The downside? The 1:1 crop ratio. But you can fix that by using Whitagram first, then upload it to Typic.
This photo was captured on my phone’s default camera but edited on Afterglow app. I just downloaded the app last night. When I purchase an app, I always check the ratings, reviews and interface. The app passed all three. In fact, it was #1 in the paid photo & video apps (US store), receiving 57 5-stars. I edited two photos using this app and my verdict so far? I love it!
For $0.99, the app is quite powerful! If you were to look for one app that has it all, Afterglow is definitely a winner. The app is like a combination of all apps I’ve used, including Snapseed and Osmo Leaker.
Note: In case you’re wondering why I didn’t include apps like Camera+, Camera360, ClassicInsta, Fotor and Snapseed. The aforementioned apps are already famous on their own and I’m sure that you’ve heard about them already. Some of these apps, however, are currently not working properly on my iPhone 5.
