I’m deeply fascinated with Typography. It was my favorite lesson/activity during the graphic design course at Central Saints Martin. I think I like the challenge of playing with letters, making them visually appealing but still be able to send across a message.

Interactive Typography by Aaron Bloom and Erin Kendig
This beautifully designed, interactive site is a great resource for anyone who are looking for an introduction to typography. It is also a helpful tool to familiarize yourself with typography jargons.
Fontruduction by Ian Obermuller
Another beautiful interactive site that aims to teach type anatomy and classification. This website also includes a quiz, asking you to identify the typeface.
Kern Type: A Kerning Game
Aside from the interesting plot and characters, a good book needs to be readable. It’s hard to read when the letters are closely spaced together or too far apart, so writers and publishers make sure that the space are distributed properly. In Typopgraphy, this activity is called Kerning.
I‘ve tried this game last August and got a 91/100 for the first try. Not bad, right?
Shape Type, the shaping letter game
You think Kern Type is too easy? Then this game will definitely give you a hard time. Not only does this game improve your pen tool skills, it will also improve your keen eye for details.

Thinking With Type by Ellen Lupton
I think it is safe to say that this is one of the most recommended typography book in the industry and I’m asking myself why I still don’t have a copy. Ms. Lupton is generous enough to share her work on the Internet though.

I’m deeply fascinated with Typography. It was my favorite lesson/activity during the graphic design course at Central Saints Martin. I think I like the challenge of playing with letters, making them visually appealing but still be able to send across a message.

Calligraphy Practice
I bought a 365 journal last month and instead of writing down my thoughts, I use it to practice my ~calligraphy~ skills. :) Hopefully, when I have time, I’ll render them using Illustrator and improve them further.

I know there tons of design-related blogs that are locally made but they’re not as popular when compared to fashion blogs. Or maybe that’s just coming from my point of view, where I’m more affiliated with fashion bloggers than with design bloggers. Either way, they don’t receive that much hype while top fashion bloggers are almost considered as celebrities.
So, I made a quick list of design blogs that are locally made. Or at least, blogs managed by young and talented designers of different fields. I want to make this list longer, so don’t forget to recommend your favorite blogs! Enjoy! :) [[MORE]]
Stache Magazine is an online magazine that was created two or three years ago. I’m not a consistent follower of their magazine but I’ve seen their issues. They often feature local (and lately, international?) talents in the field of photography, music and art.
Millimetrs.com is the personal blog of Stache’s EIC, Maine. All I can say is, I like her blog… a lot! Her blog is endless scroll worthy.
Good governance and creativity? Say those two words in one sentence and the first person I can think of is Arriane Serafico of Wanderrgirl.com. Her blog is personal, aesthetically pleasing and informative — Definitely a must visit! And don’t forget to check out her Better Blogging 101 series.
I’ve been following Abbey for quite some time now. A few years ago, pencils and a watercolor set was Abbey’s tools of the trade. Now, she’s giving digital art a try. :) And truth be told, her typography skillz is da bomb! :p
To be completely honest, I don’t really read The Creative Dork’s blog on a regular basis. But he’s a really talented illustrator! Also, his business card tutorial is very useful.
Lai Reyes-Geluz recently got married. Congrats, girl! :) I virtually met Lai through Multiply. She’s always doing something, whether it’s layout/themes, t-shirts and other design related stuff. Random fact: She made a custom theme for my deleted Multiply account.
VLM Blog by Afianne Cope. A blog about vintage fashion, art, and lifestyle. I believe ~real hipsters~ will enjoy this blog. I haven’t met Afianne but I believe she’s very talented when it comes to design. :)
