“You’re good at sketching but you don’t sketch a lot.” It’s funny that it was my little sister who reminded me what I once love before computers and the Internet became to be. Sketching was my first true love and over time, it became an innate skill of mine; something that will never ever go away. Here are some of my old sketches that I’ve done this year, the ones I’m proud of. The first photo is a sketch of Miranda Kerr. I drew it on the day that bloody typhoon was busy flooding the stretch of Roxas Boulevard. The eyes, nose and lips were particularly the hardest ones to sketch though. I shaded it last night while watching Captain America. The second one is a very old drawing, like STATUS days old! I made that because intern, Paolo Geronimo, was urging me to draw and learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator. In fact, I showed you a rendered version before. Last but not the least, here’s an unfinished sketch of a girl I don’t even know. I used Barbara Palvin’s pose in this photo and made a completely different face.
![]() Here’s a random fact to all of you: I’m only posting this because I know some people saw it on Facebook already. I drew this when I was still working for STATUS. Paolo, one of the awesome interns in the art department, showed me his works and told me that I should draw again — both on paper and digitally. He taught me how to draw using Adobe Illustration and under his “tutelage”, this was my first ever work. I’m sure he’s reading my blog and I hope he’s so proud of me, haha! I still suck with the whole shading thing digitally but I had fun outlining each and every single strand of hair. Tough work. You might also wanna check out the crappy font I made, an acrylic painting of the black hole in my WTJ or my unfinished sketch of Miranda Kerr. :)
![]() I found this while browsing through my Twitpic account. I can still draw anime girls but not as details as this one though. I think I drew this when I was still in the 6th grade, back when I crazy about Fushigi Yuugi.
![]() Kristen Bell [Original Photo] I was doing this for two straight hours. :) First, I traced the shape of her face and other facial features. Then, I colored her face, hair, lips and eyes in separate layers. I had a hard time outlining her lips and capturing the shadows/shades on her face, but I was still pleased with the outcome.
What I was doing in hitRECord for the past three hours. I colored the illustration, combined it with other existing RECord available. :)
