Travel Diary: Harry Potter Studio Tour 01

One of the things that Hosteling International has arranged for me was a trip to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London — The Making of Harry Potter Experience. I thought I'll be going to this place on my own, which was fine, but this trip really deserves to be shared with someone. So I was really happy when I found out that Tom, one of the staff at YHA Oxford Street, was accompanying me.

At The Train Station:People watching the screen for train times. Oh, how I love England's efficient public transportation! We were on our way to Leavesden in Hertfordshire.

Tom and I had a little bit of a chat while we were on the train. Some of the things I've remembered is that he's Irish, quite new at YHA, and also his first time to visit the studio. 20 minutes later, we alight at Watford Junction. There were no visible signs how and where to go to the studio, but we saw a lot of people heading out. We followed them, assuming that they're also tourists. Outside the station, there's a bus stop where tourists can wait for the official Harry Potter shuttle to arrive. The shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes, with a journey time of around 15 minutes.

As you enter the magical world of Harry Potter, you'll passed by the famous cupboard by the stairs! :)

The Magic Begins: Before entering the magical world of Harry Potter, we were asked to take a seat and watch a quick montage of all six films. I swear, watching it gave me goosebumps and slightly teary-eyed because I'm about to witness my childhood.

So, are you ready?

Once the door was opened, we were all welcomed by The Great Hall! Two long tables on the side with a display of different costumes from the four Houses. In front is a display of the costumes of the professors.

The real setting of The Great Hall is in Oxford, but I wasn't able to see it because we arrived pretty late that day. Still, the one in the studio is also magnificent.

I went apeshit as we entered the next area. It was a huge soundstage filled with various props, scenes, and life-sized figurines that were featured in the movie. Tom and I were so much in awe that it was nearly impossible to focus on one thing at a time.

These photos I'm about to share with you is NOT even half of what I saw. I took 500 photos in a matter of 3 hours and I can only handpick 60-70 photos to post.
