Visual Diary: Bruges is Belgium's Fairy-Tale Medieval Town
Less than an hour away from Gent is Bruges, Belgium's fairy-tale medieval town.Unfortunately, our trip was cut short by the sudden change of weather but even under the gloomy sky, Bruges is a wonderland of colorful bricks and streets paved with cobblestones. It's no surprised why tourists go here.
Exploring Bruges By Boat
Often nicknamed The Venice of the North, Bruges is home to a network of beautiful canals which provide visitors with a unique opportunity to view the city from a different perspective. Not only is a boat ride on the canals a fun experience, but you get to observe sites that are not accessible or visible from land. There are different quays around the city from where you can take the scenic tour, the most popular being that near Burg square. The trip costs about Eur 8 for a half hour ride and each boat holds about twenty people. If you plan on taking a trip during the summer season, be prepared to wait for a while as there are often long queues of people waiting to get into the boats! — Michelle and Nikki of Cheeky Passports
